One of the hardest situations for photographers to deal with when they’re making the transition from point-and-shoot to controlling their own exposure is shooting in the snow, or any other situation in which a significant part of the scene is white. To close out this topic, I’m going to present a few of the most common situations in which a glance at your histogram can help improve your exposure. Ith the first three parts of this series behind us, I hope that you have a solid understanding of what a histogram is and how to read it, as well as a basic understanding of how to correct some problems that you detect by looking at your histogram.
